Change your password on linux shell

Start : Connecting to the remote server and log in with your name and password . Then you will see the promp like this: (You can change your password with the proceedure below.) myserver:~$ passwd Changing password for username Old password: ******** Enter the new password (minimum of 5, maximum of 8 characters) Please use a combination of upper and lower case letters and numbers. New password: ******** Re-enter new password: ********* Password changed. Simply follow the prompts to make the change. The passwd command can obviously not be used to recover lost passwords, only to change one you know.
